Once you have embarked on a basic programme of glycolic and retinol, and laid the foundation for better skin, you can think about special treatments. It’s like taking your skin on a holiday!
A treatment product you may like to try and it may even become part of your regular skin care routine, is exceptionally high quality FACIAL OIL. In the past I think facial oils haven’t had a great name as a beauty enhancing product. For many it conjures up the image of greasy skin, however with the superior technology of today, the best extraction processes (for e.g.. supercritical extraction used for making many of Akin’s oils) resemble little of the past. The best facial oils can be so fine and delicate that they absorb perfectly and immediately.
Some of the processes today are such that they do not alter the nature of the oil and maintain most, if not all of the benefits of the oil as if in it’s original state. Oils extracted using cutting edge technology are brimming with beauty benefits like natural omegas sometimes called vitamin F. The Omega oils (3,6 and 9) are excellent for starved dehydrated skin.
With time this beneficial element can seriously improve the look of dull, sallow, lined skin and give a plump, radiant look. These days many people eat less fats and their skin suffers as a result.
Topically applied, a top quality plant oil can help put some of those good fats back, giving you that glow factor.
The omegas may also help to soothe the skin if you are using a glycolic or retinol beauty regime. The oils rich in omega can also support the all important LIPID BARRIER. The lipid barrier is made up of natural fat molecules (a complex combination of waxes and oils) which are a protective layer on the surface of the skin. Every time you wash your skin you disrupt this layer and the skin is therefore prone to dehydration – kind of like a bowl of water without the lid on.
Many extracted plant oils closely mimic this layer of skin secretions protecting it from moisture loss which after time can result in quite serious dehydration. A quality oil can be brimming with bioavailable vitamins such as E which nurtures the skin and has super-antioxidant power. Obviously the phyto nutrients will vary in each individual oil and therefore support the skin in slightly different ways.
I Think oils are absolutely delicious for the skin! So if you want that extra radiance and a velvety, softer feeling skin why not try a high quality plant oil extract. Some of the available oils are rosehip oil (Akin), rose, jojoba, avocado, sweet almond, macadamia nut, grape seed oil and there are many others. You’ll find pure individual oils and combinations (Decleor and Akin) available. Time to indulge
